PERAN BADAN POM DALAM PENINGKATAN IKLIM INVESTASI OBAT BAHAN ALAM, SUPLEMEN KESEHATAN, DAN KOSMETIK

Abstract


The Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (Badan POM) is responsible for developing and enforcing regulations pertaining to the standardization, manufacturing, distribution, and quality control of natural medicine, health supplements, and cosmetics in Indonesia.This legislation has the potential to enhancethe investment environment in Indonesia. Furthermore, Badan POM may provide support by imparting knowledge on meeting standards, promoting innovation,and enhancing market entry for these products both with in the country and outside, thereby enabling them to effectively participate in the global market.The objective of this researchis to utilisequalitative technique based on literature studies to determine themea sures and tactics that the Badan POM canimplement to improve the investment climate for natural medicines, health supplements, and cosmetics in Indonesia. A brainstorming session and PESTLE analysis will beunder taken on the available datain or dertoa scertain possible measures and approac hes for implementation.This study hasidentified five (5) tactics and foundational measures that the Badan POM can adopt to improve investment. The strategies encompass the following: (1) augmenting research and development in the field of natural ingredient medicines, health supplements, and cosmetics; (2) strengthening the technical and operational abilities of business entities, namely micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs); (3) broadening market reach; (4) streamlining regulations and offering incentives to investors; and (5) enhancing the overall business environment for natural ingredient medicines, health supplements, and cosmetics. This study highlights the need of using a comprehensive and proactive approach, together with involving stakeholders, to offer valuable contributions for policy-making aimed at improving the investment environment for natural ingredients, health supplements, and cosmetics in Indonesia..
