PLAY: HOW TO BUILD CHILDREN’S RESILIENCE

Abstract


Resilience is a general concept that can be defined as the individual capacity needed to overcome challenges, difficulties, or adversity. Children can experience various forms of difficulties. Children become resilient depending on the resources available to them both in the family and the community. This reserch aim to shows that during childhood, it is important for children to have good quality care and opportunities for learning, adequate nutrition, and community support for the family, to facilitate the development of positive cognitive, social and self-regulation skills. Playing can build social competencies such as sharing and negotiating. In 2015, Ginsburg and Jablow offers a model for building resilience so-called '7 C of resilience, namely: Competence, Confidence, Connection, Character, Contribution, Coping, and Controlling. The play-based approach supports the development of resilience in children because it provides opportunities for children to develop the characteristics of 7C .
