Abstract

Corruption (along with collusion and nepotism) has been regarded as a dangerous society habit, which undermines the life of the state in various fields. On the other hand, Indonesia is also a country whose population is very religious, and is very sensitive to issues related to religiosity. This situation should be able to keep people away from corrupt behavior compared to the conditions in countries in Europe or the United States where the society is more secular. This fact is contrary to other facts which clearly shows that various anti-corruption teachings and values have been constructed in the wealth of local wisdom. One of them is in oral literary texts (including those that have been documented) that have long been entrenched and known by the wider community. This paper uses structural-descriptive method in comprising and analyzing the intertextual relations between Malukan folktales: Atuf the Conqueror of the Sun and The Legend of Salatiga from Central Java. Those texts are drawn first using Propp’s Naratology Theory as well as comparison between those folktales from different cultural backgrounds will show any traces of anticorruption ideologies in the stories. Thus, conclusions about anti-corruption ideology within those texts will be using in the construction of teaching materials of anti-corruption campaign that can restore the primacy of cultural texts as a conduit of ethical and moral values.
