THE ADEK ADDRESSING TITLE SYSTEM IN LAMPUNG TRADITION OF PEPADUN “O” DIALECT

Abstract


This study describes awarding address of adek titles in Lampung tradition of Pepadun “O” dialect. It is expected that the results of this study are useful for government of Lampung Province and its language centre to develop Lampung tradition or culture. This research used descriptive method. The data sources are respondents, such as, natives and social figures from four villages in Tulang Bawang Regency. The addressing system of Lampung people with Pepadun “O” dialect in this study informed about three levels of adek, the cost of perabungan gawei, eight levels of amai, and four penyimbang of Lampung community. Adek is usually awarded by lebbeu, kelamo, and batangan after marriage through gawei. Besides, it is also known personal name and kinship addressing systems.
