MYTHS OF KAMPUNG TUA MULANG MAYA KOTA BUMI LAMPUNG UTARA: AN INTERPRETATION STUDY
Abstract
This study aims at describing and finding out the myths in Kampung Tua Mulang Maya Kota Bumi North Lampung, Lampung Province. The research method used is a content analysis approach that emphasizes ethno-science. Researchers try to reveal and interpret myths. The mythical interpretation in the village of Mulang Maya, South Kotabumi Subdistrict, North Lampung Regency is not just a mythical story that has no meaning but rather a reflection of the preservation of oral traditions that are full of ancestral values. Myth itself certainly has interpretations and functions so that myths can still live and develop in society as their supporting environment. The myths and beliefs of the people who live in the village of Mulang Maya function as entertainers or solace, educate, prohibit, remind and make explanations that make sense such as natural phenomena that cannot be explained scientifically.
