ASSESSMENT ON LEARNING TRADITIONAL LITERATURE BASED ON LANGUAGE COMPETENCY AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Abstract


Assessment technique, which correlates to scientific learning approach upon traditional literature, is an assessment based on language competency. This assessment does not only require students about their language knowledge but also demands them to perform their work related to their knowledge toward literature. Learning upon traditional literature is significant since students can apply their knowledge about it toward real life. The assessment is based on language competency including skills on speaking, writing, reading and listening. In addition, traditional literature usually deals with witches, princesses, and heroism. Based on its content, traditional literature includes folklore, mythologies, legends, fables, ballads, folksongs, and songs. The instruments used in this study were assessment rubric, checklist, assessment scales, field note, assignments and learning projects.
