Isolation of Tannin and Test of Antioxidants on Guava Leaf (Psidium guajava), Salam (Eugenia polyantha) and Jamblang (Eugenia cumini)
Abstract
Abstract: The researches about tannin in Psidium guajava leaf, Eugenia polyantha leaf, and Psidium syzygium cumini leaf have been done. Rendemen Tannin was obtained from stew of sample is : tannin of Psidium guajava leaf bigger than others. Rendemen Tannin obtained from the sample are: Leaf of Psidium guajava 3.19 g (17,76%), Leaf of Psidium syzygium cumini 2,1 g (11,66%), and leaf of Eugenia polyantha 2,54 g (14,11%). Pure tannin were examined with permanganometry are : 2,3% for Psidium guajava leaf, 2,1% for leaf of Psidium syzygium cumini, and 0,65% to Leaf of Eugenia polyantha. Antioxidant activity as qualitative by comparing with β-carotene show that Psidium guajava leaf more active than Psidium syzygium cumini leaf and Eugenia polyantha leaf, while Psidium syzygium cumini leaf more actif than Eugenia polyantha leaf. All of the plant contain condensed tannin.
