PENGARUH MODUL KEPERAWATAN DALAM MEMINIMALISIR STIGMA MAHASISWA TERHADAP ORANG DENGAN HIV/AIDS

Abstract


Pendahuluan: Stigmatisasi terhadap Orang Dengan HIV/AIDS (ODHA) dapat menghambat mereka dalam menadapatkan layanan kesehatan. Perawat merupakan salah satu tenaga kesehatan yang memiliki peranan penting dalam memberikan layanan kesehatan berkualitas kepada ODHA. Perawat harus memiliki empati dan sikap positif terhadap ODHA. Empati dan sikap positif ini sudah harus dibentuk sejak proses pendidikan. Kurikulum berbasis kompetensi terbukti dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan sikap positif mahasiswa terhadap ODHA. Metode: Penelitian bersifa cross-sectional denagn desain deskriptif korelatif. Sampel penelitian adalah 281 mahasiswa Fakultas Keperawatan Unsyiah yang dipilih secara purposive. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan “Brief-Quantitative Measure of Attitudes of HIV-Related Stigma and Discrimination” dengan 22 pernyataan dalam bentuk skala Likert. Data penelitian dianalisis dengan Kendall’s Tau-b menggunakan IBM SPSS Statistics Versi 22. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada korelasi antara nilai modul keperawatan HIV/AIDS dengan stigma mahasiswa terhadap ODHA. Namun faktor usia dan semester berkorelasi negatif terhadap stigma mahasiswa. Kesimpulan: Modul keperawatan HIV/AIDS tidak sepenuhnya mempengaruhi stigma mahasiswa terhadap ODHA. Terdapat kontribusi modul keperawatan lainnya yang secara simultan meminimalisir stigma mahasiswa terhadap ODHA.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Stigma toward People Live with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) can be obstacle for patients in seeking professional’s help. Nurses as health professionals have an important role in providing quality health care services to PLWHA. The Nurses must have empathy and positive attitudes toward PLWHA. Therefore, empathy and positive attitudes must be developed since the learning process started. The nursing curriculum with competency-based has proven to be able to increase knowledge and positive attitudes of students toward PLWHA. Method: This study is cross-sectional with a descriptive correlation design. About 281 students of Nursing Faculty of Universitas Syiah Kuala were recruited by purposive sampling method. The data were collected by using "Brief-Quantitative Measure of Attitudes of HIV-Related Stigma and Discrimination” that consist of 22 statements using a Likert scale. The data were analyzed by Kendall's tau with using IBM SPSS Statistics version 22. Result: The results showed that there was no correlation between the academic grade of the HIV/ AIDS nursing module with the stigma of students towards PLWHA. However, age and semester are negatively correlated to student stigma. Conclusion: The HIV/AIDS nursing module does not fully affect the students' stigma toward PLWHA. There are other nursing modules contributions that simultaneously minimize the students' stigma towards PLWHA.
