Abstract

Bali Metropolitan Area faces challenges in managing the increasing volume of waste generation. This research was inspired by the need to understand the dynamics behind urban waste production, particularly the role of socioeconomic factors such as the Human Development Index (HDI), income, and education level. The aim of this research is to examine the influence of HDI, income and education level on the volume of waste generation in the Metropolitan Area of Bali. This study aims to identify socioeconomic variables that contribute significantly to waste production, to inform more effective waste management strategies. This study uses multiple linear regression methodology to identify statistical relationships between HDI, income, and education level and the volume of waste generation. This method allows a comprehensive analysis of how each socioeconomic variable influences urban waste production. The research results show that HDI and education level have a significant influence on increasing the volume of waste generation in the area, while income does not show a significant influence. These findings highlight the complexity of the relationship between socioeconomic factors and waste production, as well as the need for a more mature approach in waste generation prediction modeling. This study concludes that improving the quality of human development and education play an important role in waste management strategies, reducing the environmental impact of generation waste in urban areas. These findings support the implementation of comprehensive environmental education programs and suggest more in-depth community surveys and social mapping to develop more effective and sustainable waste management strategies.
