Abstract

Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ) regulates that two-wheeled vehicles may transport people, but may not transport people and/or goods in general. Motorbikes are not included in public transportation, but the government allows online motorcycle taxis as a means of public transportation. Therefore, research was conducted to evaluate the safety of using online motorcycle taxis based on passenger perceptions and identify improvement strategies. operational security aspects. The research results show that human are the main cause of accidents with 34% of respondents feeling anxious when driving on steep roads and when the driver overtakes or is overtaken by another vehicle. Environmental factors, such as cloudy weather and poor road conditions, also contribute significantly to the risk of accidents. Apart from headlights that are not bright enough (33%) and brakes that do not function properly (29%), poor vehicle condition can increase traffic accidents. Although no significant influence was found between the variables, this study concluded that drivers should operate their vehicles carefully to ensure passenger comfort and safety. Vehicles must be in perfect and working condition and transportation service providers must provide state-of-the-art equipment for safety monitoring. The conclusion of this research emphasizes the need to pay more attention to security factors in the operation of online motorcycle taxi services. Regular driver training and regular vehicle maintenance are essential to reduce the risk of accidents. A comprehensive safety strategy will increase passengers' awareness of safety and reduce the number of unwanted incidents.
