HUBUNGAN DEMOGRAFI TENAGA KERJA DENGAN KECELAKAAN KERJA PADA PROYEK KONSTRUKSI RUMAH TINGGAL DI KABUPATEN GRESIK

Abstract

The implementation of construction projects has a high risk of work accidents. The leading cause of work accidents is the factor of labor safety behavior. Occupational safety behavior has something to do with workforce demographics. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between worker demographics and work accidents in residential construction projects in Gresik regency. The type of residential house used in the study provided that the residence has at least 2 floors. This study uses a survey method. Retrieval of data using a questionnaire with the respondents are builders and construction workers. Sampling respondents used a purposive sampling method, with 30 respondents. The research locations were conduct in 4 construction projects in Gresik regency. The demographic variables are age of workers, education level of workers, work experience, and the proposed workforce. This study used the correlation analysis method. The results showed that the three demographic variables, namely age of workers, education level of workers, and the crew's origin, had a significant correlation (sig <0.05), in the same as there is no essential relationship between work experience and the occurrence of work accidents (sig> 0.05). The variable explains that age of workers, education level of workers,, and workforce origin affect the incidence of work accidents. Behaviors that cause frequent work accidents are making dangerous movements, crushing equipment, sprains, being exposed to pieces of material, bruises, and inhaling the smell of paint. Therefore, the contractor should pay attention to these three variables to reduce the occurrence of work accidents.
