KEBIJAKAN IMPLEMENTASI JALUR SEPEDA DI KOTA BANDA ACEH MENUJU SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES

Abstract


Currently, the issue of sustainable development has become one of the most important sustainability issues, where the development process must consider environmental, social, and economic aspects. The main target of sustainable development is to ensure that the needs of future generations are met in accordance with the running of times. One important sector of the sustainability issue is the transportation sector, where development in this sector, in addition to providing a positive impact on the development of an area, must also produce as little as possible negative impacts to the environment such as air pollution, water pollution, and soil pollution. One alternative to reduce the negative impact in the transportation sector, especially for the road mode of transportation, is to encourage the use of bicycles. Currently, the use of bicycles as a means of transportation in urban areas still faces some challenges in its implementation, including the implementation of bicycle lanes in Banda Aceh City. Therefore, various policy reviews must be carried out. The implementation of bicycle lanes in Banda Aceh City also supports one of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), namely sustainable cities and communities. The implementation of bicycle lanes in Banda Aceh City needs to be studied from various related matters so that the policies to be taken can be more appropriate to the targeted community. The methods used in producing this paper include a review of the problems that arise in the community, secondary data collection, field visits, and literature studies. The results of this study are as follows: 1) Rules or provisions related to bicycle lanes or paths have been identified. 2) The design of bicycle lanes and other supporting road markings have also been obtained. 3) The locations of bicycle parking areas spread across various points in the study area (Banda Aceh City) have also been mapped. The initial design concept for bicycle parking areas/locations has also been obtained. 4) Maps of existing bicycle lanes in the study area have also been collected. All (four) components, as mentioned above, have been analyzed in more depth. The conclusion that can be drawn is that the implementation of bicycle lanes in Banda Aceh City is must be considered as a form of support for one of the SDGs initiated by the government, namely sustainable cities and communities.
