HUBUNGAN SELF EFFICACY DENGAN KUALITAS HIDUP LANSIA DENGAN DIABETES MELLITUS DI KOTA BANDA ACEH

Abstract


Diabetes mellitus adalah salah satu masalah kesehatan dunia yang meningkat setiap tahunnya. Kualitas hidup penderita diabetes mellitus menjadi hal yang sangat penting untuk diperhatikan. Untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup diperlukan self efficacy yang baik. Self efficacy adalah keyakinan yang dimiliki oleh lansia terhadap kemampuannya untuk melakukan pengelolaan diabetes mellitus. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui hubungan self efficacy dengan kualitas hidup pada lansia dengan diabetes mellitus di Kota Banda Aceh.  Penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif correlative menggunakan desain cross sectional study dengan populasi berjumlah 7.365 lansia dengan diabetes mellitus di Kota Banda Aceh. Metode pengambilan sampel yaitu nonprobability sampling  menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 379 responden. Alat pengumpulan data berupa kuesioner Diabetes Management Self Efficacy Scale (DMSES) dan WHOQOL-BREF yang dilakukan dengan wawancara terpimpin. Data penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik Chi-square. Hasil penelitian ini didapatkan self efficacy baik (79,9%) dan kualitas hidup baik (96,8%) sehingga ada hubungan antara self efficacy dengan kualitas hidup lansia dengan diabetes mellitus (p-value = 0,000). Direkomendasikan kepada petugas kesehatan agar terus memberikan promosi kesehatan terkait pentingnya melakukan manajemen pengobatan diabetes mellitus, sehingga dapat meningkatkan self efficacy dan kualitas hidup serta kesehatan lansia.

 ABSTRACT                                                                                                                                

Diabetes mellitus is one of the global health problems, and its prevalence keeps on increasing every year. The quality of life of patients with diabetes mellitus must receive serious attention. Self-efficacy is one of the determinant factors to improve quality of life. In this study, self-efficacy refers to the beliefs owned by the elderly towards their ability to control their diabetes mellitus conditions. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between self-efficacy and the quality of life of the elderly in Banda Aceh City. This study was descriptive correlative research with a cross sectional study.  The population of the study was 7.365 elderlies with diabetes mellitus in Banda Aceh. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling to select 379 respondents. The instruments used to collect the data werw  Diabetes Management Self Efficacy Scale (DMSES) and WHOQOL-BREF administered trough the guided interview. The data were analyzed using Chi-square statistical test. The results revealed that self-efficacy was in good category (97.9%) and  quality of life was also in the good category (86.8%), suggesting that there was a correlation between self-efficacy and the quality of life of the elderly with diabetes mellitus (p-value = 0.000). It is expected that the health workers continuously provide education regarding the importance of diabetes mellitus treatment management to improve patients’ self-efficacy and quality of life.
