Datafikasi Fandom K-Pop: Transformasi Identitas Pribadi dan Sosial di Era Digital

Abstract


Fenomena K-Pop telah mengalami pertumbuhan yang signifikan di seluruh dunia, terutama karena intensitas interaksi digital yang turut mengubah dinamika fandom. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk memahami pengalaman datafikasi dalam komunitas penggemar K-Pop dan bagaimana makna dari pengalaman tersebut membentuk identitas pribadi serta kehidupan sosial para penggemar di era digital. Dengan menggunakan Teori Identitas Sosial, studi ini mengeksplorasi cara penggemar secara aktif memaknai penggunaan data sebagai bagian dari keterlibatan mereka, termasuk dalam mempererat identitas kolektif dan membangun koneksi emosional melalui media sosial. Melalui wawancara mendalam dengan 12 penggemar K-Pop yang memiliki pengalaman dalam aktivitas voting untuk idola, studi ini menelusuri bagaimana media sosial dan algoritma dipersepsikan memainkan peran dalam mengonstruksi pengalaman penggemar, memperkuat rasa kebersamaan dalam komunitas, serta membentuk pemaknaan ulang atas identitas mereka di ruang digital. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa interaksi digital tidak hanya menjadi sarana keterhubungan dengan idola, tetapi juga menjadi ruang reflektif tempat identitas dan komunitas penggemar dikonstruksikan dalam dimensi sosial yang lebih luas.

 

The global rise of K-Pop has been marked by a significant transformation in fandom dynamics, particularly driven by intense digital interactions. This study aims to understand how datafication is experienced within K-Pop fandoms and how such experiences shape personal identity and social life in the digital age. By using Social Identity Theory, this research explores how fans actively make sense of their use of data as a form of participation, strengthening collective identity and building emotional connections through social media. Through in-depth interviews with 12 K-Pop fans who have been involved in idol voting activities, the study investigates how social media and algorithms are perceived to influence fan experiences, foster a sense of community solidarity, and contribute to reinterpreting their identities in digital spaces. The findings reveal that digital interaction not only serves as a means of engaging with idols but also becomes a reflective space where fans construct their identities and communities within broader social contexts.
