APPLICATION OF DIGITAL POPULATION IDENTITY (IKD) IN THE ASPECT OF CIVIL LEGAL PROTECTION FOR THE COMMUNITY OF DEPOK CITY

Abstract


The increasing population has led to demands for orderly administration in various public places, requiring the public to maintain document records. This is closely related to public services concerning population administration. However, phenomena in several regions show that the existing services face many obstacles and complaints. As a result, the government has introduced an innovation in population administration services through the digital-based Population Identity (IKD). This study aims to understand the urgency of using the IKD application as a form of digitalization in public services and to explore how the protection of personal data for IKD application users is ensured in Indonesia. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method, utilizing both primary and secondary data, and approached through legal frameworks. The study concludes that the digitalization of public services in Indonesia through the activation of the IKD aims to improve efficiency and transparency, although there is still a need to strengthen direct socialization to the public. Furthermore, while digitalization of public services offers convenience, it also introduces the risk of cybercrime. Therefore, collaboration between the government, the private sector, and society is essential to ensure the success of digitalization and maintain public trust.
