PELATIHAN PENGOLAHAN SQUASH MARKISA – TERUNG BELANDA DI KELOMPOK TANI TANAGO DUA DI DESA MUDE BENARA, KECAMATAN TIMANG GAJAH, KABUPATEN BENER MERIAH

Abstract

Passion fruit and tamarillo are tropical fruit plants, which are easy to find in Bener Meriah Regency. The aim of this community service is to provide a way to utilize tools/machines for processing fruit into squash and to provide examples of the value-added use of passion fruit and tamarillo, especially at peak harvest times where the selling price is very cheap. The implementation of this service activity regarding making squash uses the participatory rural appraisal (PRA) approach. This service itself consists of 3 stages, namely technical training on the use of squash making tools/machines, business management and marketing training, as well as technical training on making tamarillo passion fruit squash. The service resulted a group of community members who were able to make quality squash similar to pohon pinang squash, one of the popular squash in Aceh. This activity has succeeded in operating the equipment/machines for making squash and has proven that passion fruit and tamarillo can be processed into value-added squash products, thereby preventing both fruits from being wasted or being priced very cheaply at peak harvest.
