Ethical Standards

All studies involving human participants must be conducted with the highest respect for human dignity and ethical integrity. Prior to commencing any research involving human subjects, researchers are required to obtain approval from an appropriate institutional or national ethics committee. This approval ensures that the research protocol complies with recognized international ethical frameworks and safeguards the rights, safety, and well-being of all participants involved.

The study must be performed in accordance with the ethical principles outlined in the 1964 Declaration of Helsinki and its later amendments. This declaration serves as the foundational ethical guideline for biomedical and behavioral research involving human subjects worldwide. Authors must explicitly state in their manuscripts that the study received ethical clearance and that informed consent was obtained from all participants before their inclusion in the study. Informed consent requires that participants are fully informed about the aims, methods, potential risks, and benefits of the research, and that their participation is voluntary and based on understanding and free will.

To ensure privacy and confidentiality, authors must not include any information that could lead to the identification of individual participants. Personal identifiers such as names, initials, photographs, or detailed personal data should be omitted unless essential for scientific purposes and only after obtaining explicit written permission from the concerned individuals.

The editorial team reserves the right to decline or withdraw manuscripts that fail to meet these ethical standards. Submissions that do not provide sufficient evidence of ethical approval or informed consent, or that display unethical practices in human research, will not be considered for publication. These requirements reflect the journal’s commitment to uphold the integrity, credibility, and moral responsibility of scientific research.

Publication Ethics

The Tropical Infectious and Global Health Journal (TIGH) is firmly committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and adheres to the principles and best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). These guidelines provide a comprehensive framework for addressing all ethical aspects of scholarly publishing, including issues of authorship, conflicts of interest, data integrity, plagiarism, peer review ethics, and the handling of research and publication misconduct.

TIGH integrates COPE’s ethical principles into its editorial policies to ensure transparency, accountability, and fairness among all parties involved in the publication process — publishers, editors, authors, and reviewers. The journal recognizes publication ethics as an essential component of scientific communication and aims to promote research integrity and credibility at both national and international levels.

For editors, adherence to publication ethics involves maintaining impartiality, ensuring fair peer review, protecting the confidentiality of submissions, and making decisions solely based on academic merit and relevance. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work is original, properly cited, and free from fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism. They must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and ensure that all listed authors have made significant contributions to the research. Reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts objectively, provide constructive feedback, and respect the confidentiality of the peer review process.

The publisher’s role is to support the editorial independence of the journal. The publisher does not interfere with the integrity, evaluation, or content of the submitted manuscripts but ensures that the publication process runs efficiently, transparently, and in a timely manner.

By adhering to these ethical principles, TIGH aims to foster trust among the global scientific community and contribute to the advancement of responsible and credible scientific research.
