Author Guidelines

1. General information 

  • Manuscripts must be original, have not been published previously in any scientific journal, that manuscripts are not being submitted for publication elsewhere, and will not be submitted to any media during the review process, unless the authors have officially withdrawn the manuscripts from Buletin PengabdianBuletin Pengabdian uses a similarity check program to prevent any suspected plagiarism in the manuscripts.
  • Manuscripts encompass a broad range of research topics in community engagement: community service activities ("PENGMAS"), the student study service (Kuliah Kerja Nyata or KKN), technical guidance, models or concepts, agriculture extension, rural development and agriculture economics studies, and or other implementations to increase community participation in development and community empowerment.
  • Starting in 2024, the journal is published 4 (four) times a year, i.e. March, June, September and December.

2. Manuscript file

  • Manuscripts are written in English or in Indonesian and used stan­dard scientific usage. Authors whose first language is not English should consult the manuscript with English editing service before submit it to Buletin Pengabdian.
  • The manuscript should preferably be prepared in MS Word using Times New Roman 12 with 2 line spaces, except the title, abstract, table titles, image titles, and bibliography should be typed in 1 line space. The indent for the first line is 0.5 cm.
  • The manuscript should be written in A4 (210 x 297 mm) size paper with a 1″ (2.54 cm) margin on each side.
  • All pages must be numbered in the upper right corner and line-numbered continuously.
  • Manuscripts should be prepared in English or Indonesian language. It must be clear and concise. However, the manuscript in Indonesian after passing the editor's review will be asked to translate to English.
  • All the manuscripts must comply with the journal instructions. Failure to do so will result in the return of the manuscript and a delay in the publication process.
  • Please use the template we already prepared for the Author(s) for consistency and convenience.  
  • The manuscript should be sent through the official website (http://jurnal.usk.ac.id/bulpengmas/user/register), or if there are any problems, please send the manuscript to the journal email (buletin.pengabdian@usk.ac.id) for quick review and publication process.

3. Content of manuscript 

  • Title must be brief, clear, specific, and informative which reflects the article content. The length of the title maximum 14 words. Each word of the title should be started with capitalized letter.
  • Name of author(s) are written as references.
  • Name of institution(s) where the research was conducted must be accompanied with the full address including institution/department, city, and country, and e-mail.
  • Abstract must be written in English, in a single paragraph and no more than 250 words. Abstracts contain a clear statement of introduction, objective, methods, results/significance of the finding, and conclusion, with no references cited.  
  • Keywords should be written in no more than 6 (six) words or phrases.
  • Introduction: a. Introduction explain background back ground, problems, goals and benefits activities (impact) for society. Background should give understanding and thinking to results activity previously , so that reader No need read report / article previously in accordance with Topic related. b. Describes a brief background of the research, state of the arts, novelty, and objective(s). It should be written efficiently and supported by references and no more than 2 pages. Extensive discussion of relevant literature should be included in the discussion, not in the introduction.
  • Methods: 
    Method section load procedure complete used in implementation its activities and methods analysis the impact (For example, before and after) implementation activities. Procedure implementation of PKM and KKN must written in a way short stages implementation devotion and giving complete information, which allows implementation activity the can repeated return.
  • Results and Discussion 
    a. Results are presented in form narrative, tables, images, and or in form illustration others. Figures and tables must give number and quoted in text, for example like this; (Table 1) or (Figure 1) or in Table 1 or presented in Figure 1. Discussion containing interpretation from results obtained and analysis impact based on stages implementation activities, and compare or associated as well as supported by statements sourced from reference scientific previously with Topic similar. Preferred source libraries used referring to the article journal scientific / proceedings that have been published . Avoid repeat statement that has been written in method implementation or in introduction.
    b. The text should explain or elaborate the tabular data, but numbers should not be repeated extensively within the text. Discussion should be consistent and should interpret the results clearly and concisely, and supported with suitable literature. The discussion should show relevance between the results and the field of investigation and/ or hypotheses. Results that are already described in the RESULTS should not be repeated in the DISCUSSION.
  • Conclusion should be written briefly in a single paragraph but reflects the experimental results obtained. Conclusion should answer the objective of the research. Implication of results should be added stating what the findings of this research imply for community engagement and empowerment.
  • Conflict of Interest should be stated clearly in the manuscript. Authors should clarify that there is no conflict of interest with any financial, personal, or other relationships with other people or organizations related to the material discussed in the manuscript.
  • Acknowledgement (if any) to person(s) or institution(s) who help the experiment should be stated. Authors should also state the name and the number of the project. 
  • References: 
  1. References arranged alphabetically by Name behind writer first.
  2. If there is more from One writer (group) author published in the same year, then letter a, b, or c must be added after year.
  3. Source literature can in the form of journal scientific, proceedings, book, section book, document official, thesis / dissertation, online news, and official website.
  4. References used minimum 15 sources library, originating from 10-year issue last (>80%) and must load from source journal scientific / proceedings / theses / dissertations >80% of the total library.

4. Submission 

The author should fill the form as detailed as possible where the star-marked form must be entered. After all form of textbox was filled, the Author clicked on the “Register” button to proceed with the registration. Therefore, the Author is brought to the online author submission interface where the Author should click on “New Submission”. In the Start of a New Submission section, click on  'Click Here’: to go to step one of the five-step submission process”. The following are five steps in the online submission process:

  1. Step 1 - Starting the Submission: please tick the box "The authors agree to the terms of this Copyright Notice, which will apply to this submission if and when it is published by this journal (comments to the editor can be added below)". 
  2. Step 2 – Uploading the Submission: To upload a manuscript to this journal, click Browse on the Upload submission file item and choose the manuscript document file (.doc/.docx) to be submitted, then click the "Upload" button until the file has been uploaded.
  3. Step 3 – Entering Submission’s Metadata: In this step, detailed author metadata should be entered including marking the corresponding author. After that, the manuscript title and abstract must be uploaded by copying the text and paste in the textbox including keywords.
  4. Step 4 – Uploading Supplementary Files: Supplementary files should be uploaded including Covering/Submission Letter, and Signed Copyright Transfer Agreement Form. Therefore, click on the Browse button, choose the files, and then click on the Upload button.
  5. Step 5 – Confirmation: The author should final check the uploaded manuscript documents in this step. To submit the manuscript to Buletin Pengabdian: Bulletin of Community Services (Bull. Community. Serv.), click the Finish Submission button after the document is true. The corresponding author or the principal contact will receive an acknowledgment by email. It will be able to view the submission’s progress through the editorial process by logging into the journal web address site.

After this submission, Authors who submit the manuscript will get a confirmation email about the submission. Therefore, Authors can track their submission status at any time by logging in to the online submission interface. The submission tracking includes the status of the manuscript review and editorial process.

5. Review Process

Buletin Pengabdian is applying the peer-review process. The authors are welcome to suggest at least five potential reviewers along with name and their email addresses. However, the decision to determine the appropriate reviewers is the right of the editor. The approved gallery proof of the manuscript will early viewed online as early as possible upon receipt from the author and final proofreading by the Editor in Chief.

"Starting from Volume 6, Issue 1 (March 2026), Buletin Pengabdian Bulletin of Community Services will implement an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 550,000 IDR.

If this paper is accepted for publication, you will be asked to pay an Article Publication Fee to cover publications costs.

This APC was introduced to cover the costs associated with the editorial process, including peer review, journal production, and other costs. We believe this step is essential to maintaining the quality and accessibility of the journal.

This APC has been carefully determined to balance the financial sustainability of the journal with affordability for our diverse author community.

We understand that APC can be a concern for some authors, and we aim to keep our fees reasonable and transparent. Authors from low-income countries or those with financial constraints may contact the editorial office for a possible waiver or discount.
