Pengaruh PendekatanContextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) Terhadap Pemahaman Matematis Siswa Menengah Pertama

Abstract


This research was conducted because of problems related to the low ability of students' mathematical understanding. The solution that can be done to increase the ability to understand mathematics is to apply the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach during the learning process. This study aims to find out that students' mathematical understanding skills through the CTL approach are better than conventional learning. The method used in this study is a quasi-experimental method, with a nonequivalent control group design. This research was conducted at one of the public junior high school in Darussalam, Aceh, Indonesia. The population in this study were all students of class VIII in the school studies. The sample in this study were students in class VIII-1 as an experimental class that would be applied to the CTL approach and students in class VIII-2 as a control class taught by conventional learning. The instrument used in this study was a mathematical comprehension test in the form of validated essay questions. The analytical technique used in this study is the right-sided t-test. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that tcount> ttable (2.17 >1.68) which means acceptance of Ha, so it can be concluded that students' mathematical understanding abilities through the CTL approach are better than conventional learning.
