Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Siswa pada Materi Aljabar di Kelas 7

Abstract


This study aims to determine students' mathematical problem-solving ability in algebra in Year 7. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research type. The subject of this research is class VIII-5 at one of the public junior high schools in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, consisting of 31 students who will be taken 6 students to be interviewed using purposive sampling technique. In this study, the researcher was the main instrument, while the supporting instruments include problem solving ability test questions and interview guidelines. Data collection techniques used problem solving ability tests and interviews. In the data analysis process, a technique consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing was used. The results showed that there were 2 students with high category problem solving abilityproblem solving ability. The conclusion of this study is that the mathematical problem solving ability varies, and is classified in the moderate category.
