Abstract


ABSTRAK

Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) adalah penyakit menular yang disebabkan oleh  infeksi SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2) telah berkembang menjadi pandemi. Kelompok yang paling rentan pada pandemi COVID-19 adalah individu yang memiliki masalah kesehatan sebelumnya dan usia lanjut karena sistem kekebalan mereka yang telah menurun untuk mencegah infeksi. Pada individu yang terinfeksi SARS-CoV-2, status gizi merupakan faktor penting untuk prognosis yang optimal dan dapat menentukan derajat penyakit COVID-19. Nutrisi memainkan peran penting dalam menjaga sistem kekebalan tubuh untuk mencegah manifestasi patogen. Belum adanya pencegahan dan pengobatan yang definitif untuk COVID-19 sehingga pentingnya meningkatkan sistem kekebalan tubuh sebagai bagian dari upaya pencegahan dan pembuat kebijakan perlu merumuskan strategi yang efektif dan efisien untuk pelaksanaan promosi kesehatan terkait gizi.

ABSTRACT
Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2) which has developed into a pandemic. The elderly and people with comorbidities are more susceptible to develop more severe infections with increased risk for poor outcomes. In individuals infected with SARS-CoV-2, nutritional status is an important factor for optimal prognosis and can determine the degree of COVID-19 disease. Nutrients play an important role in maintaining the immune system to prevent the manifestation of pathogens. There is no definitive prevention and treatment for COVID-19, so it is important to increase the immune system as part of prevention efforts and policy makers need to formulate effective and efficient strategies for the implementation of health promotion related to nutrition.
