Pencegahan dermatitis kontak akibat kerja pada sektor konstruksi

Liza Salawati

Abstract

The construction sector is an important sector in national development, however, this sector is the most at risk of occupational safety and health problems. The Association of Indonesian Construction Occupational Safety and Health Experts assesses that the safety protection of construction workers in Indonesia is still minimal. So far, the implementation of occupational safety and health  has only been carried out in large scale construction companies, while the medium to lower scale ones are still minimal due to the lack of awareness and demands from construction company partners to implement the occupational safety and health  program optimally. This will have an impact on the incidence of work accidents and occupational diseases, one of which is contact dermatitis due to work. Contact dermatitis is 90-95% of occupational skin diseases in developed countries that require serious attention. At a meeting of dermatologists in 2009 it was stated that around 90% of occupational skin diseases were contact dermatitis, both irritants and allergies. Although this disease is not life threatening, it can have an impact on work productivity, cost effectiveness, transfer of labor and suffering for workers, thus affecting the economic needs and quality of life of sufferers. Therefore, effective prevention is needed to reduce the morbidity of this disease.
