GAMBARAN PENGGUNAAN LENSA KONTAK (SOFT LENS) PADA MAHASISWA UNIVERSITAS SYIAH KUALA DITINJAU DARI JENIS LENSA, POLA PEMAKAIAN, JANGKA WAKTU DAN IRITASI YANG DITIMBULKAN

Abstract


Abstrak. Lensa kontak merupakan alat bantu penglihatan agar kita dapat melihat tanpa menggunakan kacamata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran penggunaan lensa kontak pada mahasiswa Universitas Syiah Kuala ditinjau dari jenis lensa, pola pemakaian, waktu dan iritasi yang ditimbulkan. Sebuah studi deskriptif cross sectional telah dilakukan terhadap mahasiswa Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh. Sebanyak 193 mahasiswa yang menggunakan lensa kontak telah diwawancara dan mengisi kuisioner. Mahasiswa Unsyiah paling banyak menggunakan lensa jenis soft lens (99,48%) dengan pola pemakaian harian (97,93%). Jangka waktu pemakaian terbesar pada kategori 1-6 bulan (53,4%) dengan lama waktu telah menggunakan lensa kontak terbanyak yaitu 6 bulan-1 tahun. Penggunaan cairan tetes mata lebih dari 1 x perhari. Kebersihan responden dalam menggunakan lensa kontak cukup bersih (49,74%). Kejadian mata merah pada responden akibat penggunaan lensa kontak mencapai 65%  dan lama keluhan akan hilang kurang dari 1 hari (63,73%). Kejadian mata merah yang disertai adanya keluhan mata lain sekitar 57% dan 83,42% responden yang mengalami iritasi mata tidak pernah berkonsultasi ke dokter. (JKS 2016; 3: 129- 134)

Abstract. The aim of this study was to know the use of the contact lenses by students in Syiah Kuala University based on lense types, the pattern of use, time and the irritation resulted. A cross sectional study was carried out among students in Syiah Kuala University, banda Aceh. The number of students participated was 193 which had been interviewed using questioner. The lense type used most frequently was soft lense (99,48%) and used daily (97,93%).  The duration of contact lense use 1-6 month (53,4%) dan most student had used the lense from 6 month to 1 years. The frequency of application ear drop solution was more than once in the dy. the hygiene of using can be categorized in to sufficient (49,74%). The incident of red eye caused by the use of contact lense was about 65% and the effect would disappear in less than 1 day (63,73%). The irritation experienced with other unpleasant effects was 57% and 83,42% respondents never consulted with health professionals. The utilization of contact lenses by students was classified as sufficients. Hopefully, this study could inform the use of contact lenses so that the use could be damage to eyes would not happen.
