Abstract

Artikel ini mendeskripsikan pemanfaatan geographical tools sebagai alat pendidikan dalam mata pelajaran geografi sekolah menengah atas dan kontribusinya terhadap pencapaian keterampilan geografis siswa. Alat geografis yang digunakan terdiri dari peta (maps), studi lapangan (fieldwork), grafik dan statistik (graph and statistic), teknologi geospasial (geospatial technologies), representasi visual (visual representation. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada mata pelajaran geografi kelas XI di SMA Negeri 3 Kota Malang. Pre test dan post test digunakan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas dari pemanfaatan geographical tools untuk mendukung pencapaian keterampilan geografis siswa. Angket respon siswa juga digunakan untuk mendapatkan pendapat siswa tentang penggunaan geographical tools dalam pembelajaran geografi. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa pemanfaatan geographical tools dipahami oleh sebagian besar siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 3 Malang. Perolehan skor siswa bervariasi dengan skor rata-rata pre test sebesar 43,2 dan skor rata-rata post test 65,5. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan alat geografi. Mayoritas siswa menyukai latihan penggunaan geographical tools dan alat pembelajaran yang efektif untuk pelajaran geografi sekolah menengah atas terutama saat digunakan dengan metode, materi, dan tujuan yang tepat.
