Author Guidelines

Depik published three numbers a year in April, August, and December. We accept manuscripts as a research paper (full length and short communication), research notes, and review (full and mini reviews) both in Indonesian and English. Starting on 2021 this journal publishes article in English. Authors are requested to send the manuscript through online submission in OJS at:

The submitted manuscript should be an original work and free of plagiarism. Authors are required to perform the initial screening to ensure that the draft is free of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism.

The manuscript should be typed in Microsoft Word program (.doc/.docx) with the top and left margin 1.27 cm, right and bottom margin of 1.27 cm. Please use Garamond font type, Fond 12 (except the title and author's name). Each page should be numbered at the bottom center sequentially. Figures and tables are placed directly in the text. The author should pay the publication charges (processing and submission charges) an amount of 1.500.000 IDR (120 USD). There is the publication charge for authors from Indonesia (1,500,000 IDR) for editing and processing fee and free of charge for authors from other countries. The author will receive a full printed (hardcopy) journal book, authors who want to get extra hardcopy journal can be ordered with printing cost 100.000 IDR / book (75 USD)

Starting on Volume 7 Number 2, Depik has not published paper dealing with social economic aspects.


Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. Title: A title should be provided concisely (10-12 words).


  2. Author(s) and Affiliation(s): 

    A brief autobiographical note should be supplied including:

    • Full name (First, middle, last name)
    • Affiliation
    • E-mail address
  3. Abstract:

    Maximum of 300 words, the abstract should consist at least; short background (voluntary), Purpose (mandatory), Design/methodology/approach (mandatory), Main findings (mandatory), Practical implications (if applicable), and Conclusions.

    Abstract should be constructed in a single paragraph and exclusive of any literature review. Please provide minimum five and up to seven keywords which encapsulate the principal topics of the paper.

  4. Introduction:

    The introduction should consist at least the problem(s), state of the arts of the research, the gap between reality and theory or previous finding from other studies, and objective(s).

  5. Materials and Methods

    The procedure of the research should be prepared clearly, step by steps of the work is mandatory. All equipment or materials used in the study should be defined and specification should be provided. We suggest the Materials and Methods divided into several sub-section, for example: Time and Site; Experimental design, Data Collection procedure, Analysis data etc.

  6. Results 

    Each Figure and Table should be supplied within the article itself. All Figures (charts, diagrams and line drawings) and Images (photographic images) should be of clear quality, in black and white and numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals. Figures created in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, Illustrator and Freehandshould be saved in their native formats. 

    Tables should be typed and included as part of the manuscript. They should not be submitted as graphic elements. Supply succinct and clear captions for all tables, figures and plates. Ensure that any superscripts or asterisks are shown next to the relevant items and have corresponding explanations displayed as footnotes to the table, figure or plate.


  7. Discussion:

    Discussion should be made comprehensively with comparing to other relevant studies, limitation and new findings of the study,  and their implication to science in general.

  8. Conclusion:

    The conclusion should inline/answering the objective(s) 

  9. Acknowledgements:

    All contribution of the third parties can be acknowledged in this section.

  10. References:

    Referencing should follow the author-date system and carefully checked for completeness, accuracy, and consistency. This is very important in an electronic environment because it enables your readers to exploit the Reference Linking facility on the database and link back to the works you have cited through CrossRef. At the end of the paper a reference list in alphabetical order should be supplied:

    • For books: Surname, Initials. Year. The title of book, Publisher, Place of publication. e.g. Muchlisin, Z.A. 2010. Introduction to strategic development. IASD Publishing, New York. (For two authored book): Muchlisin, Z.A., M.F. Almizan. 2014. Introduction to ichthyology. Fajar Harapan, Banda Aceh.
    • For book chapters: Surname, Initials. Year. Chapter title, In Editor’s Surname, Initials (Ed.), Title of book. Publisher, Place of publication, pages. e.g. Sugianto, M.H. 2009.     • For published conference proceedings: Surname, Initials. Year. The title of proceeding which may include place and date(s) held.
